Our Sports Therapists & Instructors

Asheligh Walker - Sports Therapist

Ashleigh has recently completed her BSc in Sport Therapy at Newcastle College, during which she completed her clinic based placement with PPPT leading to her joining our team. She was able to take on a role of shadowing all of Platinum’s programmes, in particular Cardi-Back. It was during this programme that Ashleigh completed her dissertation for a project she was undertaking as part of the final year of her degree. This investigated the effects of the hip flexor muscles in relation to levels of low back pain.

Her current role involves taking the circuit component of some Cardi-Back programmesas well as delivering Swiss Ball Circuit classes within the clinic. Ashleigh is currently in the process of applying for an MSc in Physiotherapy, of which she will have confirmation by the end of summer 2014.

Ashleigh is also involved with Durham City Football club, working with the men’s first team as their Sports Therapist. During her second year of her degree she was also involved with Spennymoor Town FC which provoked a keen interest for her into Northern League football. Ashleigh has been watching games in this league with her Father and Grandfather for as long as she can remember and very much enjoys being a part of a club in the league, with her own responsibilities now. Although it can still be classed as work, Ashleigh states it still counts it as a hobby!
