Face to Face Sports Therapy
Our experienced Sports Therapists use an identical hands-on style of treatment to our Physiotherapists, and this means that the consistency of treatment at Platinum is one of our unique selling points.
Sports Therapy is not just for athletes (this is a common myth!) but our Sports Therapists treat all parts of the body including lower back/neck, upper and lower limb injuries, and pre and post operative rehabilitation. It is appropriate for people of all ages and levels, which is again something many people are not aware of.
As with the Physiotherapy treatments, the initial assessment will include the following:
Thorough history taking of the injury
Objective testing including palpation with the diagnosis discussed with you immediately
Effective hands-on treatment with the aim of improving function/reduction of pain
An individualised Home Exercise/Strength programme will be emailed to you post treatment
Follow up treatments/possible Face to Face/Video Link class trial will be discussed at the end of the appointment so there is a clear plan in place
If onward referral is indicated (e.g. for x-rays/consultant review), a letter will be printed or emailed to you as soon as possible

What is Sports Therapy?
Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports-specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.
It utilises the principles of sport and exercise science incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable. Sports therapists (as with Physiotherapists) are trained at university level, therefore the anatomical and rehabilitation knowledge is very advanced enabling confidence in the benefits of our treatment techniques, advice and individualised home programmes prescribed.
